Getting fat & bored in an office role - need a new career
So, i am in my 40's, unfit and fed up with my office based job.

I want to take the plunge and take a new path career wise & become self-employed.

Don't mind earning less as long as i am happy so i am thinking about becoming a painter and decorator.

Or maybe learning to be a butcher. Or perhaps a golf course groundsman like Bill Murray in Caddyshack.

Is being self employed really tough?

Any advice other than killing myself would be appreciated.

Yea - about six months after I applied they did indeed open a big one in a new shopping centre in my city. Thing is im in a different part of town right next to a massive uni so would cater for a
Different market.

Good point about setting up an independent shop although the Krispy Kreme brand is so strong it would be like printing money

Seriously? Probably because they realised it was a good territory and plan to open one owned by the mothership.

Just open a fucking Donut shop and keep all the dosh! Fuck them! If you want a franchise go in, see what they do and how they do it and do it yourself.

Do you know of some bookkeeping work going? The reason I ask is that the wife's main bookkeeping client is retiring soon and she needs to replace the work. Preferably not a million miles from Romford.

Get a Merc with blacked pout windows and start a Brothel - you have 2 years before all the eastern Euros get kicked out...

How about a franchise? If I could open up a Krispy Kreme franchise in my area it would be like a license to print money. Sadly the kremey kunts declined my application

I always wanted to get into close protection but I think at 36 and no military background, that ship has sailed.

You clearly don't understand the word consecutive.

Not a surprise. Easily one of the stupidest people on here.

As for the OP, 40s is a bit old to start to want to do something more physical ain't it? Painting and decorating is surprisingly physically hard work. If you'be been sitting in ab office for years that's going to be a tough ask. Plus you'll need years to become any good at it. Madness.

You could try collecting horse manure off the roads and selling it to gardeners. All you need is a bucket and shovel and you'll clean up.
